Peters Statement Condemning Bomb Threats Against Jewish Community Centers

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Below is a statement U.S. Senator Gary Peters issued following the rise in bomb threats to more than 30 Jewish community centers across the country, including the Jewish Community Center of Metro Detroit:

“I am extremely troubled by the rise in reported anti-Semitic threats and recent suspected plots to attack Jewish community centers in Michigan and across the country. Michigan has a proud tradition as a welcoming and diverse state, and I condemn these threats that seek to make our friends and neighbors feel unsafe in their own community. I am thankful to local law enforcement for their dedication to keeping our communities safe and their efforts to thoroughly investigate these concerning threats. At a time when our nation is deeply divided, we must join together to stand up to hate and bigotry and work to protect the values of inclusion and equality that our country is built upon.”
