VIDEO: Peters Commemorates Memorial Day

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Gary Peters (MI), a former Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve and a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today released a video in advance of Memorial Day.

“Memorial Day is a patriotic day of remembrance – a time to honor those who died in service to their fellow countrymen.” said Senator Peters. “As Michiganders gather with friends and family to enjoy the holiday weekend, I encourage everyone to pause and reflect on the significance of this day.”

“On Memorial Day, we pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms, our values and our way of life. We also pay tribute to the families who have lost loved ones.

“As Michiganders gather with friends and family to enjoy the holiday weekend, I encourage everyone to pause and reflect on the significance of this day.

“Memorial Day is a patriotic day of remembrance – a time to honor those who died in service to their fellow countrymen. A time to thank the brave men and women who have served in battles past and still carry the mental and physical scars with them. A time to appreciate the peace and security we enjoy thanks to those who sacrificed on our behalf. A time to support our Gold Star families and remember the continued burden they carry in the absence of their loved ones, not only on Memorial Day but throughout the year.

“God bless all those who have served and God bless the United States of America.”
