Peters Announces Military Service Academy Appointments

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Gary Peters (MI), a former Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve, today announced that nineteen Michigan students nominated by his office have received appointments to military Service Academies. Of the group, nine will attend the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado; six will attend the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland; three will attend U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York, and one will attend the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. The students will begin their service this summer.

“I applaud these young men and women for their willingness to serve our nation in uniform, and it was my pleasure to nominate them for appointment to America’s service academies,” said Senator Peters. “These students have demonstrated the skills and academic excellence to become the next generation of leaders in our military and our country, and I wish them all the best in their endeavors.”
